If I file my trademark on an intent-to-use basis, can I provide the specimen later?

Yes, if you file your application on an intent-to-use basis, you can provide the specimen later. After the official filing, the USPTO will examine your application, and if it passes, the Office will send you a Notice of Allowance requesting specimens. This will happen approximately 12 months after filling, but the exact timing depends on the current backlog at the USPTO.

You will have 6 months to provide your specimens. You can extend this period further and ask for a 6-month extension. You can request an extension a total od 5 times, but each is subject to a fee.
